It is only fair that you would like to know some information about me, before you lie down on my therapy couch with your eyes closed.
My name is Jill Christiaens and I live in South Cambridgeshire, with my dog, four cats and husband. I’ve been fostering animals for more than 15 years so there are often extra kittens, puppies or guinea pigs in the house.
I grew up in Portugal quite rurally and reading was my refuge from the world.
I moved to London when I was 23 years old and despite outwardly leading an exciting life, my feelings of lack of self-worth followed me around and tainted every experience. As anyone who suffers from lack of self-worth will recognise, I had that little voice in my head that wouldn’t allow me to enjoy any small or big achievements. I could be congratulated 1000 times on a successful project or receive 1000 compliments but my brain would just reject any of that positivity because I had a core-belief of “I’m not good enough”. This feeling of lack of self-worth would trickle through in all areas of life. Work, relationships and especially looking after my physical health…
For a long time, I just lived like this and thought it was normal. I know what it feels like to want to change, but not have the motivation or any idea where to start. One day I picked up a leaflet at Greenwich Market and got chatting to a man about hypnotherapy. I had one session and was in awe of this wonderful tool. I had no idea that my life could improve so much in such little time and with such little effort. The filter of lack of self-worth in my brain was dissolved and I started seeing life in colour. That’s not to say that my life became perfect from one day to the other; but I now squeeze much more joy out of each single little thing
Following this first taster of hypnotherapy and wanting to learn more, I undertook the training to become a hypnotherapist and went on a hypnosis frenzy. I used it to support my weight loss journey of more than 2 stone by tackling unhealthy eating habits and emotional responses, I used it for job interviews, professional situations and exams and a myriad of other things. I then moved on to my husband (obviously with his consent) and used hypnotherapy to stop nail biting, reduce anxious responses and improve healthy habits. He has lost more than 3 stone with the aid of hypnotherapy.
I’m now a certified and insured hypnotherapist with a practice in the UK and in Portugal. I see clients face-to-face in my therapy room at home, my therapy room in Meldreth and online.
